Woodlands Country House Hotel was formerly a Victorian farmhouse, set in the beautiful village of Brent Knoll, in approaching four acres of grounds. Its elevated position beneath the ancient hill fort of Brent Knoll, gives outstanding views towards the Quantock Hills and provides the perfect venue for your special day. We are ideally situated for easy access from all parts of the country, being within five minutes of Junction 22 of the M5 motorway network and well signposted.
Your wedding day is probably the most important day in your life and takes a great deal of organising. Glenda & Peter and our dedicated team will attend to all the details surrounding your special day at Woodlands, and personally ensure your day runs smoothly, offering help and advice when needed. We can put you in touch with a variety of wedding services.
The gardens offer a splendid backdrop for your special photographs, as well as providing the children with an ideal, yet safe area to play. Weather permitting; you can even have a dip in the pool once the formalities are over!
Civil Marriage Ceremonies
Woodlands is licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies and we can offer you a choice of rooms for your ceremony depending on the numbers attending. We offer a pleasant airy room overlooking the hotel garden, which will hold up to 20 guests and the fee for the hire of the Garden Room. Alternatively, we can offer our elegant Dining Room, which has a capacity for up to 50 people.
The Registrar conducts the ceremony, which usually takes about twenty minutes depending on the content of the service. Once you have determined that our facilities are available on your chosen date you will need to contact the Registrar (Sedgemoor Register Office – (01278) 422527 – to book the time and date with them. Please be aware that the Ceremony cannot go ahead if the Registrar is unavailable. Following your discussion with the Registrar regarding the content of the ceremony, we can provide equipment if you wish to supply taped or compact disc music to be played during the Ceremony. Finally, we provide an arrangement of fresh flowers to match your colour scheme, on the table in the Marriage Room with our compliments.
Reception and Menus
Our elegant Dining Room lends itself for a Wedding Reception, and we can seat a maximum of 50 guests. Should you wish to extend your wedding celebrations into the evening, then we can accommodate up to 80 guests for an informal party.
We have carefully thought about the menus for your Wedding, and hope that you will find they tempt your taste buds! We offer formal dinner menus and buffet menus for those who are looking for a more relaxed and informal atmosphere. If you decide to extend your celebrations in to the evening, then there is a finger buffet menu, or for something really different why not choose a barbeque! In order to cater for all tastes, we have included some choices for vegetarians.
Wines and Drinks
We can offer a drinks package, which represent excellent value and quality within the price range, and includes a drink on arrival, red and white wine with the meal and a glass of bubbly for the toast. Soft drinks are available as an alternative for children and non-drinkers. Alternatively you can choose from our extensive Wine List and house wines are very reasonably priced.
Evening Entertainment
Evening parties are becoming more popular as a way to include more friends and family to your celebrations. Guests can enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere and to make the party go with a swing you can have a live band or a disco. Should you require cabaret style entertainment, we are happy to recommend an excellent entertainment agency. In the past we have had a variety of themes, from string quartets, jazz bands, discos and casino nights.
Accommodation
You may need overnight accommodation for your guests if they are coming from further afield, and we have eight individually decorated bedrooms, all with en suite facilities, colour television and hospitality trays, plus our Family Suite of two bedrooms with a private family bathroom. For the Bride and Groom of course there is our Bridal Suite, which is a beautiful spacious double aspect room, our Four Poster room (very traditional!) or the Super King with a luxury bathroom and whirlpool bath!
